WikiHow's Tips
How should I maintain my carpet?
We recommend that you vacuum regulralry, at least once per week, more often for high-traffic areas. We also recommend that you steam clean on a regular basis (yearly). Remove stains as soon as possible. Most stains will come out with water alone.
How does having carpet affect my allergies?
Carpets should be vacuumed at least twice per week and cleaned according to manufacturer specifications about every year, to year and a half. contrary to what many people think, carpet is a good thing for those with allergies as it helps contain dust and dander, unlike wood floors where it just sits on top and can more easily become airborn.
